Marion van de Kamp

Marion van de Kamp (born 23 October 1925) is a German actress and television announcer. Born in Wuppertal to Dutch parents she attended the drama school in Dresden, East Germany and worked at theaters in Meiningen, Görlitz, Plauen, Schwerin and Leipzig. In 1953 she started working for the Deutscher Fernsehfunk, the public East German television.

After a brief training at the drama school in Dresden, van de Kamp, who comes from a Dutch family, played at the Meininger Theater, then in Görlitz, Plauen, Schwerin and Leipzig. It was here that she was discovered in 1953 for German television broadcasting and, along with three male colleagues, formed the first permanent television company. Also in 1953 she took over the television announcement together with three other actresses. She has appeared in numerous television games, including Ms. Werdenfels in a television adaptation of Frank Wedekind's play The Keith Marquis. Other important roles were Lady Milford in the DEFA film adaptation of Kabale und Liebe (1959) and the mistress of Augustus the Strong in Me after, Canaillen! (1964). In addition to Armin Mueller-Stahl, she was in front of the camera in the agent series The Invisible Visor. From 1955 to 1991 she was part of the ensemble of the Volksbühne Berlin. In her inaugural role, she played the young teacher Nelly in Ulrich Becher's German-American chronicle Feuerwasser. Since 1991 she has been a regular guest and co-partner at the Berlin Theater im Palais.
